Sewers have served mankind well since Roman times, but the same problems have always remained, no matter how far technology has moved on. There are Victorian sewers in Europe that function perfectly well without any maintenance whatsoever. There are still working sewers in Rome from when Emperor Claudius was in charge. Despite this most sewers to have things getting stuck in them which stops the waste water flowing freely. It might be a diaper, toilet paper or even a pet, believe us, we have seen it all.
A sewer line may need unblocking or repairing, we often don’t know until try either dig it up or use our video system to take a look.
While most homeowners and business owners don’t want to think about sewers and sewage, the importance of their cleanliness and maintenance cannot be overstated. If you have a slow draining sink or shower then a blocked or broken sewer line may be the cause.
These kinds of problems can lead to expensive situations if they aren’t addressed early on with some remedial work.
Depending on the cause of the problem, the remedial work can be relatively simple, like our sewer jetting service, or more difficult like the need to dig up your property. We would only dig holes if the sewer was collapsed, cracked or otherwise broken. There are times when things get stuck fast and need something more powerful than a high pressure hose to move them. We may have to dig then.
Whatever method is needed we promise that we will do only the work that is absolutely necessary in order to restore your service. No over complicating, or overcharging.
Older homes, or those with large trees in their gardens are particularly susceptible to sewer damage. The pipes in older homes were made of clay and are quite brittle. Changes in temperature, weak ceramics, or tree roots.
Tree roots are a particular problem and used to need holes dug in order to repair damage they caused. Nowadays we have drain snake augers which we can send down the pipe to cut through the root and restore the flow. If the damage isn’t too severe to the pipe, no digging is necessary.
Don’t leave it until something goes wrong before you consult a professional about your sewage pipes. As with any household appliance or service, it is much cheaper to have them regularly maintained than it is to have them repaired. Much better to spend your dollars keeping things running nicely than having to spend two or three times as much repairing damage to the pipe and any damage the leak may cause.
Sewage isn’t good for the garden and a flood isn’t good for anybody.
